Introduction
Story
The story is about an admiral fan of Superman risk his life to one day thank
him for what he has ever done. But as Superman tries to save everyone from
incoming flood that was caused by a broken dam by Lex, Superman arrives too
late to save his admiral fan from an incoming train. Despite the failed fate
the fan’s best friend is resented by hate for Superman even though Superman had
apologized by arriving in the funeral as Clark Kent.
The Good
As I started reading this issue I thought it was just another
simple Superman story but by the end I absolutely loved it! The ending really
made an impact especially in today’s world. I feel this way because many fans
have reacted negatively in the Man of Steel because he couldn't save anyone.
The initial reaction of Superman’s fan best friend was a great example of that.
It showed how Superman is just like any other human who can’t be everywhere at
the same time even with his great speed. Seeing Superman not being able to save
one life out of millions made me sympathy for him, which to me this the story
we should be seeing from Superman.
That kid must have been really stupid for risking his life to talk to Superman
because in some other Superman story a kid had just talked him by falling off a
bike. (Laughs) (I’m not taking any points for this I just thought to mention
it.) A story with so much impact on the ending should have gone for a little
longer with another part to the story of his friend learning to forgive
Superman. It’s a real disappointment that this story is only being one part. I
also wished they didn't have the picture of Superman holding the baby in the
cover because it was misleading for another part from last issue’s story.
Verdict
I give this issue a 4/9 out of 5/10 because it gave a very powerful meaning of
what people think of Superman today. I believe we need to more Superman stories
about Superman is just as human as anyone of us. So, people won’t get the
misconception of how perfect he is. Allowing this to happen in the comics shows
the movie isn't totally wrong for doing the same. I still wish there was
another part to this story. But it’s definitely worth the money and read. I
also want to mention there was a similar issue to this in same series where
Superman failed to stop someone from killing himself. But this time it wasn't
for the sake of Superman. It about a kid who couldn't control some psychic drug
he used. Besides of being a chance of redundancy it’s still a great story!
